Najib Abdul Razak's budget speech drew loud jeers from the opposition and shouting of his wife Rosmah Mansor's name. The first instance occurred when Najib announced plans to turn Malaysia into a shopping haven with a proposal to exempt some 300 items from import duties.

RM212 billion allocated for Budget2011, which is 2.8% higher than the allocation for 2010 RM45.6 billion will be allocated for Development Expenditure, RM15.5 billion for the social sector Government revenue collection is estimated to increase 2.3% to RM165.8 billion in 2011, up from RM162.1 billion in 2010 The defi...cit for 2011 is expected to further decline to 5.4% of GDP, compared with 5.6% in 2010

Only 30% of Malaysians obtained higher education qualifications (as of 2005), compared to Singapore’s 46%, Thailand’s 41%, South Korea’s 89%. 80% of our workforce have only received secondary level (SPM) education & only 25% of our workers are highly skilled (as of 2007), compared to Singapore where 49% are highly-skilled, Taiwan 33% and South Korea’s 35%.

Malaysia is facing a severe Human Capital Flight with large-scale emigration of intellectuals seeking greener pastures in more advanced society like in Singapore who is estimated to have 45 % of the best brains from Malaysia & 25 % to other Asian countries with the balance of 30 % to Europe & the USA out of the total estimated 1 mil Malaysian working overseas.
