Egyptian Syndrome..

In the noisy busy panting world of today, victims of any abuse or violence are tend to be forgotten within few weeks.. People learned to move on, whenever a catastrophe or loss happens.. I believe this is one of the hidden contexts of current globalization culture.. Only some individuals and/or groups would seek commemorating and injecting glow in the incident to gain something or follow a particular agenda.. Otherwise, business will continue as usual..!

I do not praise nor condemn this practice of swift forgetfulness; but need to mention as foreground for my comments on recent New Years Eve’s violence on an Egyptian Church.. Notable; similar incidents had taken places in Nigeria and Iraq; with larger number of causalities.. Both Egyptian media and government masters the art of Mass-Communication; which made this ugly incident as the sole hot spot worldwide.. Sequentially, I do not response or been moved by usual hysterical calls for defending Islam, Supporting national unity or pen-pointing to growing threats against the Arabs..

Muslim Coptic relations in Egypt were always hairy and critical, since the times of Ayyubid dynasty; who had established protocols to prohibit non-Muslims from employment in government and army.. The aspiration of such ruling was maintained during the following stats and regimes.. Egypt since became a country of deep national divide and continuously a time-bomb.. During the last 50 years, more dramatic applications took place which made it clear case of human rights' abuse..

Churches in Egypt are only permitted by security affairs.. Coptic are prohibited from high ranks in military, police and security.. Almost none appointed as Ambassador, Supreme-Judge or News-Editor.. Coptics were freely allowed to grow in the civil society subject to their silence and obedience.. Many chose migration to North America and Australia despite the wealthy potentials they would have at home.. Although Coptics are more than 15% of Egyptian population; less than 50 Coptics are known figured among the 5 million public servants..

Typically, government legacy and mind set in Egypt is unchanged since the times of Pharaohs.. The public service acknowledges no religion or ethnicity as referrals; but plays the tunes of social and political contexts as per the necessity of the time.. However, some key steady and holistic frames can be identified, while represent the very critical elements of Egyptian strategic platform..

1. There are three establishments that share running the lives of Egyptian people, despite the various ethnicities and original cultures they belong to.. Military, Religious and Government.. The ancient feudal system had seeded the fact that both businessmen and commons are just gears in a wealth generating engine.. Laws and administration were established to draw the same and maintain continuity of the mind-set..

2. Egypt is a military state, despite the hidden and low profile of the Generals.. It is another replica of Turkey, Syria, Morocco, etc; where final coordinates have to align to military approval.. Skeptics on loyalty grow great; while regional threats are continuous.. When Mubarak publically  fall down ill, his body guards prevented anyone to attend except the heads of military and intelligence; who a minute later allowed the medics to approach him..!!

3. The Sunni Establishment of Egypt had never been confident in a free intellectual environment.. The 90,000 schools funded by AlAzhar are meant to feed the establishment with alike-mind graduates who contribute to enforce and expand its existence.. This religious establishment has no room for religious tolerance if would undermine its domination on more than half of the Muslim world..

4. Egypt Inc understands that Coptics are better connected and competent for international business in time of globalization.. Therefore; they do not support rights of Coptic businessmen for more free business. Orascom Holding is an example of US-aided-Coptic, who expand widely in no time.. Simply; no more Sawiras is allowed to grow, who knew the lesson of an earlier Tycoon (Ayub Adly) who was deliberately driven for bankruptcy..

5. Commons are badly torn by state media, revolt groups and limited foreign impressions.. The three establishments deal with the common with no references or preferences.. Simply and historically; both countrymen or occupiers had ruled the commons the same way.. Once a person becomes part of the system, he/she is no longer part of his kinship.. Social ranking system may formally disappeared, yet commonly active..

Therefore, answering any question about Coptics of Egypt becomes simple.. They are neither within the ruling establishments, nor supported by Egypt Inc.. They are just part of the commons, who are practically and actively neglable in the political calculations.. Only usable and utilized in working various political schemes and plans; such as scrapping out oppositions, expanding martial laws and/or creating a street momentum..

May Allah’s mercy reach all wasted lives and hurt ones too..

  1. Once more, religion is not a backbone for any attempt to shake the political order in Egypt.. It is just an easy tool or a fragile façade for any opponent to the régime.. Once he/she would be in control; religion would be a typical protocol, subject to change by necessity..!!

I know many would hysterically condemn my thoughts, badly name me, and/or stamp a note: “He is just a Foreigner..” True, but they forgot that outsider would observe better.. or as Charles de Gaulle said: “If History is forgotten, Geography is there to tell..”

  2. In any country, there are always and typically two images: the formal institutional one, and the commons’ other.. One exercise the complex art of ruling and governing; while the other practice the life with constraints of time, place and resources.. One is usually unknown to the commons; yet motivates their desire to join and enjoy the powers of office; while the other is known by everyone; yet has no control on administration, politics or sovereignty.. One never sympathizes with anyone, unless there is a gain; while the other is a simple living human being..!!
Roles are never mixed between the two, unless the country proven politically immature or culturally deformed.. Some good-wishers hope to join both; but reality of practice tells the inevitable separation.. Some ill-wisher advocate the synergy, while knowing the fuses within their false claims.. At the end, the simple commons pay the heavy price of both supporting or resisting..!!
Yes, many nations went through the bloody hard route of political maturity; yet sociopolitical technology allows no vacancy for the integrity of integrated self-development.. You are not anymore what are your genes or dreams.. but what are your masters..!!
It is the time to understand and compromise with the enemy within..!

  4. Thanks Ekhoi Adam.. The painful was that one asking:"Where is God?" despite the fact that he came out from a Church.. No one would blame him, as religion becomes less impressive to resolve our civic problems..

The same resulted in the BBC "Intelligence Squared Debate"; which aired yesterday.. a Debate between Tony Blair and Christopher Hitchens on the effectiveness of religion to solve today’s conflicts..

Audience give the notion only 26% while opposition gained 67%..!!
    Petty..
