‎300 Sudanese refugees in Egypt started protest being-neglected at UNHCR office in October City of Cairo.. Fears to repeat the violence of 2005, which claimed the lives of 53 Sudanese..!

2. Recognized Refugees: 6159 men, 3884 women, 3234 Children
3. Total Sudanese Refugees in Egypt 22647, or 57% of total refugees in Egypt
4. Proce...ssing was in halt since 2004, with no known reason, which deteriorate the living conditions of the refugees
5. Due to the processing freeze; No medical care, education support, living support or work permits are available
6. Some Egyptian, Int’l NGOs and Egyptian Catholic Church are supporting few of them.
7. Some 30 Sudanese were in custody since 25th Jan protest, mostly were released, yet couple are unknown..
8. Some tension is building up between Refugees and Police force, recalling events of Dec 2005
9. Refugees’ leaders are calling for calming down the situation, arguing authorities to help reactivate the UNHCR branch and processing.
10. All Sudanese appreciate the Egyptian host of more than 4 million Sudanese, who managed to settle in Egypt during the last 30 years, based on their own means of income and living..

  2. I agree.. yet they are powerless.. No one, No government, No charity considers giving them a hand.. They are trapped between politics and homelessness.. I appreciate the efforts of Amir Jaber to keep the story in light, and track the progress there..
Hopefully, it will not turn augly within that critical times of Egypt..!
