Gaza 2011, Palestine

During school times; we came to learn that Architecture is interpretation of two things: Wealth and Comfort..
If this is Gaza 2011; So what's about the stereotype terrifying pictures of killings and suffering..?
Maybe someone will advocate the people's right to live.. but how; with slogans of economic blockage and Harassment by Israelis..!!
From where this wealth is generated and how it is sustained..?
Are Gazaeans in need for such costly interiors to relax from the war-chronicles..?
How they can taste the beauty and elegance of these interiors in their war zone..?
Is there something missing..?
Is there TWO Gazas..?

No wonder that many people denounce the Arabic claims on Suppression, Siege and Poverty..!!
It seems, alike most of the Arabic campaigns and media, both reasonable logic and ultimate truth are always missing
Certainly: I always support the Palestinian cause..

Certainly: I'm extremely shocked..!

  1. My friend..
It is combination of speciality logistics, retail economics, and market pricing to feed such lavish interiors..
It happens that my degree in architecture, my profession in construction management and my hoppy in socio economics..
    I'm in deep shock..!!

  2. I don't understand what you're shocked about. None of this denies the siege of Gaza.

  3. Before drawing conclusions one must establish facts. These photos have no indications within them of where they were taken, or if, indeed, they aren't computer-generated images or artist's renderings. They could be anything other than what they are portrayed to be. Do you have EVIDENCE that they are indeed photos taken in Gaza?
Even if they were taken in Gaza, all they would establish is that there are some people in Gaza with wealth who spend that wealth on oppulent interiors. This doesn't establish anything other than that. Israelis have imposed great suffering and hardship on the vast majority of the citizens of Gaza. That is established fact.

  4. Dear Friend..
The post came within the standard process of publishing, including name of Photographer, names of premises and their addresses.. Also, the web address of the advertising agency..
I did not claim been in Gaze, nor supporting the Zionist conspiracy against, yet not blind or dumb to repeat any campaigns, whatsoever.. The whole thing came to me from a reliable Arabic architecture site, where the designer was proud to post his work.. As an architect, in case you do not know; I'm capable to differentiate between photographs and other media..
However, if you denounce the thing, you need to prove it is not real.. Right?
    Then, why am I shocked..?
It is not a matter that there are few wealthy ones, or people right to enjoy living, or how to manage to smuggle the materials, or they are mad enough to do such cost interiors in a war zone.. Simply, because these are reflections of retail business, which should be triggered and sustain by market demand.. If no customers to afford the cost of added value of these designs, all these ventures will not waste their moneys for show off.. Right?
The question: if you sell expensive service or goods, how the people with limited income to purchase from you..? or if a hair cut in Gaza will be done for 10 Shekels, certainly in that one it will be for the double, if not more.. How many customers will be there to retrieve the investment..? Did the owner was made to investment in interiors of that Hair Saloon, if risk on investment is high..? It is not patriotism, but business.. Let’s face it..!
Admitting what is wrong, is never wrong..!! Right?
Finally, you should introduce yourself, as nothing there to hide..!! Right?

  5. I am sick of war and blood pictures that I've been seeing for 26 years, so I decided to not capture anything that includes blood or guns and all what I'll capture anywhere I go is beauty and life. This is why you will see smile, love, colorful and beautiful pictures from Gaza like everywhere else.
My name is Khalil Abusharekh, I captured these pictures in Gaza and also I was born and raised in a refugee camp in Gaza. Gaza, you must smile. Show your beauty to your sick killer.

  6. Adil, I showed your website to some friends and I think one did some investigative work about the photos from Gaza, on their own and posted the comment on your site.

    Thanks, Kathleen

  7. Dear Khalil..
Thanks for your comments.. I agree that we should post more of life rather death.. more of hope rather pain.. and more of smiles rather cries.. The new generations should know and learn to appreciate the little goodness they may have rather than the more bitterness they are surrounded with.. The path to maintain and sustain the cultural identity is never by bullets and blood, but by ideas and joy.. This how the others had managed to build their own future, despite the annoying echos of suspected painful history..
    Dear Khalil...
My quetion yet is valid.. it is a try to understand the micro economics of Gaza.. it is an attempt to stand firm in front of any queries.. It is to avoid the repeated hyterical notions along the past 60 years..
Thanks again.. and keep the great meaningful job..
