From 1947-1949, Zionist militias and the Israeli state confiscated more than 4.2 million acres of Palestinian land. The UN plan to partition Palestine allocated 55% of the land to a proposed Jewish state, despite the Jewish population being only 33%.In 1947, the Jewish population of Palestine only owned about 7% of the land. By 1949, the Israeli state controlled 78% of historic Palestine. By 1950, over 400 Palestinian villages were systematically depopulated and destroyed by Zionist militias and the Israeli state.
