In February 1943, 17-year-old Yugoslav Communist Partisan fighter Lepa Radic was captured by the Nazis. They tortured and interrogated her to get information on her cell. She refused to talk. Finally, as they took her to be hanged and put the rope around her neck, they gave her one last chance to reveal who else was in her Partisan cell. Her last words: “Those whom you are asking about will reveal themselves when they have succeeded in wiping out all you evildoers, to the last man.”
