AlJazeerah.. The Arabs’ Anti Christ..


In mid 1990th, Aljazeerah (AJ) news channel was launched with a non-refundable loan from Qatari government of $500. The mandate was to support the channel for 5 years till maturity and stand alone as a corporate. AJ had its 1st pragmatic step to attract media experts, famous commentators and TV anchors to form a winning team. The scenario was simple: “To achieve the highest rates of Arabic audience in no time..” Then, it was the smart profiling of Arabic audience and defining conceptual strategy on whom, what, and when.. Certainly, the brilliant experienced team had accumulated together all appealing elements, with further steps to contact all controversial, oppositions and contradictions in the Arabs world.. The use of the contextual objectivity had enabled addressing issues and subjects; which were totally new to the mostly illiterate fans.. This was enough to bring the audience to watch the never seen before within the broader media blackout or tight control in Arabic world..

By early 2000th, AJ was established as a leading news channels with more than 40% of the viewing share among Arabic speaking.. It was phenomenon, as who would oppose it, kept watch as well..!! The implemented media recipe had penetrated each house, office, lab and classroom, with floods of new-to-know themes among suppressed audiences.. Once Sep 11 took place in 2001, AJ was the 1st to station next to Bin Laden, promoting his day life, ultimatums and philosophies.. Certainly, it was a breakthrough and new concept in news coverage, which had landed the anchor in Spain jail and awarded the producer its CEO position in 2009.. Therefore, many critics accused AJ of the use of excessive sensationalism in order to increase its audience share..

In 2002, Qatari government, within its search for a new executive role in the Arabian politics, they took over AJ again, as an influential tool in the regional politics.. Wikileaks in early 2011 had released clearly sentenced discussions on the utility of AJ in Qatari establishment.. Certainly, the capacity to reach the Arabic masses, and motivate them toward particular political agendas, is a dream for any politician and statesman.. This had been reflected in the frequently repeated confrontations between Arabic regimes and AJ during the decade.. Only Egyptians has the mightiness to stand firm, not by their trenching with the Qataris as Israeli allies, but also with their ownership or management of the Arabic satellites that servers most of Arabic TV channels.. Since its coup d’état in mid 1990th, the Qatari regimes had endorsed a policy of working with contradictions.. This had utilized the monetary resources along with the strong western aligns, to establish a new political referral in the Middle East.. Such ambitious target, despite its irrational and greedy foundations, had drove the Arabic politics into a dark endless tunnel in critical moments of time..

What really matter, is the audience patterns which are celebrating the channel and form its wide fan groups among Arabs.. Considering the psychological and media techniques are in use by AJ, it is inevitable to find many would spend some time exploring its attractive debates, reports or intelligences.. During the years, as how many anchor journalists had joined the channel, many also had lift, expressing different reasons cycling around their own professional satisfaction.. However, within the violent political order in the Arabic world during its young history, many contradicting editorial guidelines had emerged from time to another.. There is no clear prioritized vision, apart from the famous slogan of “The Opinion and The Opposite..” The concentration of questioning legitimacy of authorities, debating the principles of political practice, with lots of species from hidden files on corruption, torture, misuse of powers had collectively grown wide suspicion on terms of cooperation and facilitations in most of the countries.. Despite how such stand would blow the hot topics to air, it inevitably question AJ credibility and journalism.. The commercial success does not much the political one, as many predict its decline once the global political order would denounce the Qatari tiny role..!!

The current audiences are simply and obviously divided into three groups:

1. The unprivileged lower classes who are charmed with the exotic exposure of hidden files in any subject, yet the juicy once are always related to dynasties and political powers.. The align fake tones would attract them further, while unable to draw a demise..

2. The middle classes who are frustrated with ongoing unrest, interrupted and confusing way of life, which they try to find answers for.. The editorial messages always target them as the main gear among Arabic speakers..

3. The new elite layers, who are well educated, well paid, and well monopolized by their own cultural demons.. They are leftovers of a changed landscape, while their roots are still hanging in the virtuality of the 1980th.. The times of last Arabian awakenings of 20th Century..

AJ will continue to be a main player in cyber journalism in the Arab world, not only due to the above mentioned reasons, but also for the materials they produce, which catches the attentions of many agencies worldwide. AJ Expands a lot since their launch, and almost covers all geographic destinations of the Arabs.. Nevertheless the English service, which has limited audiences, despite the different editorial concepts it has..
