Abdel Kader Haidara, the man who risked his life to save almost 400,000 ancient manuscripts from Timbuktu (Mali) from being destroyed by the Invaders.
These manuscripts, some of which date back to the 11th century, deal with myriad subjects such as medicine and astronomy

The invasion took place recently in the year 2012,
he had assembled a collection of over 377,000 ancient manuscripts some dating back to the 11th century and on subjects as diverse as medicine, poetry, astronomy—all were saved from destruction.
