Transgender Challenges..

Row: Miss Vallender says her local mosque has victimised her because they asked her to worship with men, not women

Tangible challenge for many Muslim Scholars..!!

A former trained soldier has swapped her Territorial Army beret for a veil and become Britain's first transgender Muslim woman.
Lucy Vallender used to be called Laurens and says she is finally 'true to herself' after a sex change three years ago.
The 28-year-old is now married to a Muslim man she met on an online dating site, but he did not know she was once a man when they wed.
She now wears a full veil outside her Swindon home to show the world she is married.
The former labourer said 'she used to love firing guns' and claims she drank regularly with the other squaddies as a TA private, but Lucy knew at 14 she wanted to become a woman.
'I tried to do macho things you know to stop how I was thinking, but it didn't work because I was trying to be someone I wasn't,' she said.
'I felt differently to others - I was attracted to men.
'But I suppressed my feelings and tried to live like most people my age.
'I'd go out clubbing with friends and drink a lot of alcohol.
'I had girlfriends too, but it would never get physical and always fizzled out after a couple of months.
'Joining the TA was my final attempt at trying to fit in to that kind of life but I couldn't handle it anymore and left after about a year.
'I felt like I was in the wrong body. To carry on living as a male was living a lie.'

I will comment though am not a scholar. Gender changes are here to stay (along with many other current issues) and we need to incorporate this reality into our laws. Personally I believe Allah is first and foremost Rehman and Rahimeen and if the intention is clear and good - who are we to judge? I only remember this verse from the Quran "O mankind, We created you from one man and one woman, and then divided you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize one another. Indeed, the most honorable amongst you in the sight of Allah is he who is most pious (God Fearing) of you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise."

Allah swt had described the son of Noah as "defective".. Despite how this was related to the belief domain, it opens a window to understand that lots of the epistemic and physical properties of Mankind can be defective too.. This is where Scholars are troubled, trapped and caught idle..!!

Adil- in her case it is not her imaan which is defective - she has accepted Islam after her gender change - it also does not appear to be a psychological but a biological issue - so in this case I would not describe her as "defective" in the spiritual sense...

Maliha; I did not mean her belief, as no one knows what belief is about but Allah swt.. I mean her biological being.. The ongoing ruling on non-straight sexual behavior is sever condemnation, with sever penal code to apply.. But using the defectiveness description would enable to treat these cases in a different manner, considering that social and hormonal development are mostly uncontrollable.. This is where Scholars clash with Realities..
