The first photo dates back to 1927, when leading physicists gathered at the famous Solvay Conference, with only one woman among them: pioneering scientist Marie Curie. The second photo captures a completely opposite scene many years later (in 2017), as female physicists gathered to recreate the spirit of that historic photo. This time, however, only one male scientist was among them: Guido Tonelli, the former spokesperson for the CMS project in particle physics. It's as if time wanted to reverse the scene to demonstrate the scale of change and the growing role of women in science.
