They are a product of great ancient, yet vivid civilization that taught them hard work and intension to the details.. Also, a product of a unique heavy social system that too complex to understand.. They are too humble chasing the chance to prove themselves, yet too keen not to fail..!! This is not new to any GCC resident; as one of the facts of life.. I had searched for roots, and found few irrelevant marks.. Such discrimination was not known in the GCC before 1990th.. yet surfaced with the flooding of Arabic and Western expats; who for many confusing reasons shared negative impressions and attitudes towards all natives from the Subcontinent.. Slowly, it became a corporate attitude as well..!! Despite all arguments; there is nothing called cultural supremacy.. but an evil inhumane discrimination!!

The average salary of a construction professional from India, working in the Gulf, is US $4111 (AED 15,087) per month, according to results from the ConstructionWeekOnline.com salary survey.
This figure is $1936 lower than the industry-wide average of $6047 per month.
A total of 1221 people took part in the survey, which was conducted online during April to September 2009. Professionals originating from India were the largest single nationality group identified in the survey, at 31% of respondents.
Project manager was the largest single designation of respondents, with around a quarter of those who provided both salary and job title details selecting this option to describe their role.
The average salary of a project manager from India is $5617 per month, compared to an industry-wide average of $7774.
Respondents work in all the GCC nations, but a large majority (77%) work in the UAE.
The top three countries of origin for survey respondents were India, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.
Responses were voluntary and passively solicited online. Respondents were not asked to provide their names or any contact details. Results were collected and collated by a third-party provider.
Full results and analysis from the survey will be published on Saturday 21 November, in issue 297 of Construction Week.
I agree with the comparison, but I think its miss leading. The other side of the story in the country you get paid it.

Education I assume is same figure as in uae but in rupees. You pay aed18,ooo per year, her they might pay 18,ooo rupees, and so on.
You can tell I am in india as I write this.
The dirham nowadays bring you 12.50 rupees.
An average good lunch is 150 rupees.
A tea at a tea stall is 5 rupees, in dubai is 12.50 rupees.
So, if I am from india, the amount you mention takes me to the highly paid working class, specially these days, where salaries has came down in the indian market.

ReplyDeleteMy concept is irrelevant to what the worker is: a native or migrant, or where the migrant worker from.. it is all about standardization and justice.. US Labor Office had set leading criteria based on Roles, Competencies, Deliverables and Qualifications.. these 4 elements correspond with feasibility and valuation of the position within the corporate.. Wages are not tailored, nor rigid by reasonable parameters.. Yet Growth is secured by effective KPIs, Profitability is granted by motivations, and Loyalty is gained by non-discriminative measures.. Then; Management can focus on adequacy of candidacy rather than their IDs or their lobbying networks.. We had, and you know; Blue-eyed technicians appointed as senior executives; while many highly qualified Dark-eyed ones calmly use public transportation..!! Let's catch up once you back home..!
i dont mind to listen to what the Americans are saying how much an Indian or a dark eyed person should be paid, basically they want to level the field for their manpower, whose jobs are snatched left, right and centre by someone who is willing to accept less. They want to raise the cost of hiring a non-american. this is the catch we have to be aware of.

USLO had set their own framework, which had been later adopted by ILO itself.. This was in late 1980th, and earlier than the global hunt for minds & muscles.. The merit: it had stabilized their work environment, everyone knows where standing, and focus only on work not claims.. Most of Corporates are widely adopting the same, therefore, they all sign their employment ads with statement of "gender, racial and cultural non-discriminations.."
