Such a statement represents fine art of leadership, integrity and patriotism, which had been proven short among many..
This was Jamal AbdelNasser, addressing the people after the defeat in the 6-Days war of 1976, announcing his full responsibility and stepping down from office.. I remember hundreds of thousands of the people had stormed Cairo streets at that evening; despite the then-ongoing Israeli air raids on the remaining Egyptian targets around Cairo; urging him to stay in office.. Eventually; he did, yet died after 3 years by heart attack during the negotiations between Jordanian and Palestinian after their bloody clashes in Jordan in Sep 1970..
This is Jamal Abdul Nasser, the second president of Egypt and he was a spearhead of many nationalistic movements and a man who made history...

Hisham M Ed-Dai
I applaud the words of Hisham for a critical reason.. He represents a generation who didn’t attend Nasser's life, yet they trace his legacy and feel proud about it.. No nation would mark its place in history without honoring the men who had dignified its name.. This is the slip many concurrent ones are doing.. Also, that generation is sick looking for a leader to cross the sociopolitical and cultural divides; which paralyze the Arabic speaking people.. nearly 400 million of them; with their massive natural strategic resources..!!
