Sikhism
The Mughals ruled India for over 300 years and some of their contributions to the country in the field of art and architecture are unparalleled. While there were periods in between the Mughal rule that were peaceful and produced some of the best world-renowned monuments of India, many people forget that the struggle to get hold of a new territory often results in a lot of bloodshed. The same was the case with the Mughals invading Punjab during early 1700s. The scares and wounds became timeless among 27 mln Sikhs
Origin of Sikhism
Sikhism was founded on the teachings of Guru Nanak and nine successive Sikh Gurus in fifteenth century Punjab. It is the fifth-largest organized religion in the world. This system of religious philosophy and expression has been traditionally known as the Gurmat (literally the counsel of the gurus) or the Sikh Dharma. Sikhism originated from the word Sikh, which in turn comes from the Sanskrit root śiṣya meaning "disciple" or "learner", or śikṣa meaning "instruction."
ēk ōaṅkār
The principal belief of Sikhism is faith in Vāhigurū—represented using the sacred symbol of ēk ōaṅkār, the Universal God. Sikhism advocates the pursuit of salvation through disciplined, personal meditation on the name and message of God. A key distinctive feature of Sikhism is a non-anthropomorphic concept of God, to the extent that one can interpret God as the Universe itself. The followers of Sikhism are ordained to follow the teachings of the ten Sikh gurus, or enlightened leaders, as well as the holy scripture entitled the Gurū Granth Sāhib, which, along with the writings of six of the ten Sikh Gurus, includes selected works of many devotees from diverse socio-economic and religious backgrounds. The text was decreed by Gobind Singh, the tenth guru, as the final guru of the Khalsa Panth. Sikhism's traditions and teachings are distinctively associated with the history, society and culture of the Punjab. Adherents of Sikhism are known as Sikhs (students or disciples) and number over 23 million across the world. Most Sikhs live in Punjab in India and prior to the Indias partition, millions of Sikhs lived in what is now Pakistani Punjab.

If you have the Clock; we have the Time: Afghanistan
©David Turnley.
I went to Afghanistan in the late 90s after the take over of the Taliban, one of the most repressive regimes in the world that rules by strict Sharia Islamic law. I flew to Peshawar in Pakistan, was able to get on a small Red Cross flight into the middle of Afghanistan and drive to Kabul.
The country has been at war for decades.
I was told that the Taliban refused modernity, and did not allow photographs and that a colleague had been beaten by an iron rod the previous day. I walked down the middle of one of the main roads in Kabul, chose what felt like the alpha male, of a group of Afghan warriors, carrying a Kalshinikov machine gun with bandeliers of bullets over his chest, and approached with just my cameras. I looked him straight in the eye, shook his hand respectfully and said “hello”. I was invited for tea. I continued this approach and photographed life in Kabul for many days at the beginning of the Taliban in power in Afghanistan.
Many of these photographs have never been published before.

Jewish Homeland is Not Palestine..
Yossi Gurvitz
(https://mondoweiss.net/author/yossi-gurvitz/)
on March 19, 2019
Reading a recent post (https://mondoweiss.net/2019/03/accept-criticize-israel/), I made the critical error of clicking on the link to a Thomas Friedman column. I will not engage Friedman’s screed (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/06/opinion/israel-ilhanomar.html) against Ilhan Omar – for the record, I’m on Team Ilhan – because I believe Friedman has too much blood on his keyboard to be seriously engaged. I will, however, take exception to an aside of his. Friedman writes:
I am not dual loyal. I always put America first, but I want to see Israel thrive – just like many Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, and Indian-Americans and others feel about their ancestral homelands.
Don’t know how to break it to you, Tom, but Israel isn’t your ancestral homeland. You were born in Minnesota in 1953. Your parents also lived in the US. Wherever your grandparents came from, it wasn’t Israel, since it didn’t exist at the time.
What you’re referring to, Tom, without even noticing it, is the myth that Jews today are all the descendants of Jews who once lived in Palestine, and as such have an eternal right to the land. This is the founding myth of Zionism, and it often masquerades as history. Let’s blow it up, shall we?
Time in Cairo; El Seed
In 2016, images of a stunning piece of street
art—spread across nearly 50 buildings in Cairo—began circulating online.
Individually, each building was a colorful, abstract masterpiece. Together,
they formed the stunning Arabic calligraphy that Tunisian-French artist eL Seed is known for. Painted in
the Manshiyat Naser area of Cairo, a forgotten corner of the city where
garbage collectors live, the world marveled at how this incredible artistic
statement was achieved. Now, eL Seed is telling the story in his own words.
Perception is
the artist’s first-hand account of how he managed to organize the self-funded
project, gain the trust of the community, and execute a complex artwork all
while undergoing an emotional transformation. The anamorphic mural, also
titled Perception, is only visible in its totality
from Moqattam Mountain and shines a light on a community that is so often
ignored. Through his work, eL Seed reinforces how street art is much more than
the finished artwork itself. It’s also a means to engage with a community and
build bridges.
“What intrigued me about Perception was
less the end result of the painting—although it is very impressive—but the way
in which eL Seed immersed himself in the community of Manshiyat Naser, and
worked to unpack the assumptions and prejudices he—and we—have of the ‘garbage
collectors’ of Cairo,” writes Glenn D. Lowry, director of MoMA, in the book’s
foreword. “As he worked with local leaders, met the inhabitants of the
buildings he painted, and played with the children of the neighborhood, the
project evolved from being a literal act of ‘perception’ seeing the anamorphic
painting spread across an array of buildings, to a metaphor for seeing what had
been previously invisible; the dignity and richness of the lives of the Coptic
community of Zaraeeb.”

How many Migrant Muslims perform the Haka..?
DW News
"I Live! I Die!" are the first chants of impromptu haka performances students in New Zealand staged to mourn the victims of the Christchurch shooting.
A traditional Maori ritual, the haka has become known globally as a battle cry of the Kiwi national rugby team. However, the Maori also use it as an integral part of death and mourning, say experts, as a way to show love and compassion - and to uplift the spirits of bereaved families.
A Dumb Question:
How many Migrant Muslims perform the Haka !!??
I question how Muslim Migrants engage with the Maori culture?? How New-Zealander they are or become??
Not forcible or exceptional cases, but the genuine sense of belonging..
Ghetto Syndrome make them aliens in their new homes.. It is a phenomenon worldwide, among Oriental Migrants.. Therefore; they would irritate the Radical Nationalists..

Why Most Engineers aren't Fit for Public Office?
The Question: Why Generator is Rated in KVA Not in kW?
Answer-1
Because Generator is a Mechanical equipment that Converts Mechanical power to Electrical. They have no definite power factor, they are only depending on the connected loads, and they consume reactive power according to its load. Alla Gen and transformer makers doesn’t know about consumers load that is why they design their gensets in kVA.
Answer-2
The generator generates only the appearant power, which is measured by the KVA but the kilowatt uses the real power which is comes from the load side according to the power factor rate, the appearant power symbolized by the letter S and real power symbolized by the letter P. P (real power) can be calculated by multiplying S (appearant power) into the power factor.
Answer-3
Generator converts Mechanical power into Electrical power. It’s Output is Electrical. their Power factor depends on the nature of connected load such as resistive, capacitive, and inductive load as they consume active and reactive power according to the load. unit of active power is KW and unit of reactive power is KVAR. That’s why they are rate in KVA. On the other Hand, motors are rated in KW because its output is mechanical. Designer know exact mechanical load and power factor. So motors are rated in KW.
Answer-4
Kw is the unit for real power ie the power required to do actual work. There is another component of Electrical power called the reactive power expressed in KVAR (this power is just like friction for mechanical systems a necessary evil). Considering the different loads available the active and reactive power varies. A well designed load will have Kw>>KVAR. Now to the part to answer the query. The vector summation of active and reactive powers is called apparent power which is expressed in KVA. Any generator manufacturer will specify the total power that his machine can provide and how efficiently it is used is upto the customer. Hope this clarifies.
Answer-5
It's more useful to describe how much resistive and reactance power you have at your disposal. Power factor tells us how much reactive power is present( kinda wasted power but necessary) the closer to 1 means less wasted and more useful power..... 0.5 power factor means half the oomph isn't there to do work. (trying to simplify the concept.) p.m me and il send you some homework
Answer-6
Kva = kw + kvar, only in case the load is R then kva = kw

A Life-Changing Math Trick

BY LOUISE BEVAN
March 12, 2019An incredibly simple yet life-changing math trick has gone viral, and it’s causing quite a stir. Smashing the invisible barriers between intellectual snobbery and the rest of us, a few professional mathematicians have even come forward to admit they never knew about this hack. The outraged masses are berating the teachers of the past and wondering why they didn’t learn this in school.

An isolated community near the Black Sea coast in a remote part of north-eastern Turkey has been found to speak a Greek dialect that is remarkably close to the extinct language of ancient Greece.
As few as 5,000 people speak the dialect but linguists believe that it is the closest, living language to ancient Greek and could provide an unprecedented insight into the language of Socrates and Plato and how it evolved.
The community lives in a cluster of villages near the Turkish city of Trabzon in what was once the ancient region of Pontus, a Greek colony that Jason and the Argonauts are supposed to have visited on their epic journey from Thessaly to recover the Golden Fleece from the land of Colchis (present-day Georgia). Pontus was also supposed to be the kingdom of the mythical Amazons, a fierce tribe of women who cut off their right breasts in order to handle their bows better in battle.

Sudanese Anarchy
For weeks, I had hold myself tight not to comment on what's going on in Sudan.. It is anarchy between who protest against the regime, and who support..
Who supports have almost no voice, but factually control the country and defuse the fierce 24/7 efforts of who against..
Both come from the same towns, districts, neighborhoods.. and homes..!!
While the supporters have strong active leadership; in addition to state powers and utilities.. The oppositions has no leadership; despite the enthusiasm, bloods and dreams..
It became a game of who has the patience, resilience and breathe.. Who will be last standing, regardless of who is right or wrong.. Nevertheless the unspoken foreign support for both camps.. It is Globalization 2.0
I have folks back home who are part of the silent majority.. who can't afford losing a day work to join protests.. Similarly to others who afford life luxuries and enjoy the online politics..
The other day I had a discussion with one of the abroad-protesters; concluded with accepting my notion that a factor (X) is missing in all Sudanese history, politics and communities..
We became addicted to reinvent and redo our sociopolitical order..!
Despite the usual Sudanese pride of knowledgeability.. the intellectuals are no aware that modern politics have mathematical formulas.. I shall have no surprise if one replies that Sudanese are different..
Political Unrest is calculated by mathematics.. This is the 3rd Millennia and new world order.. Yet, called "Complex Systems"

5 modern African thinkers on identity, language, and regionalism
Street Philosophy at City Bowl, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa,
by Anne Fröhlich on Flickr – CC license-NC-2.0
By Rakotomalala /
African philosophy is generally overlooked in the field of philosophy. The reasons for that are unclear. Some argue that it may be because African philosophy is closely tied to its oral traditions, making its extended history difficult to share to a larger audience. Others argue that its Afrocentric nature makes it less palatable to the rest of the world.
Nigerian born Philosopher K.C. Anyanwu defines African philosophy as “that which concerns itself with the way in which African people of the past and present make sense of their destiny and of the world in which they live.” Although it remains mostly a mystery to other countries, African philosophy is a well-established discipline, enriched by centuries of research dating back to Ancient Egyptian philosophy to the modern post-colonial thinking. Throughout its history, African philosophy has made important contributions to Greek philosophy, mostly through Egyptian philosopher Plotinus who was instrumental in continuing the Greek tradition of Plato’s philosophical academy, and to Christian philosophy via Algerian thinker Augustine of Hippo, who established the notion of the original sin.
To further understand the current evolution of contemporary African philosophy, here are five thinkers that you ought to keep track of from the continent:

Matriarchy

Dr. Kate Lister of Leeds Trinity University,
According to Greek mythology, the Amazons were a race of warrior women who refused to live with men. So far, so sensible. In order to continue their survival, once a year the Amazons would visit the neighbouring tribe, the Gargareans, to have sex with the male inhabitants.
Once the Amazons had got what they wanted, they would discard their lover like a soggy tissue, and return to their homeland – hopefully, pregnant. Nine months later, the Amazons would keep all the girl babies and either return the boys to their fathers or just leave them to die on a hillside somewhere. Brutal.
For most of us, the phrase ‘matriarchal society’ conjures images akin to the mythical sperm stealing, spear snapping, man-walloping world of the Amazons. But, anthropologists are keen to stress that matriarchy is not the opposite of patriarchy. It does not mean a world where women rule over men.

Flat, Fast, Deep, Psychic and Genome
During the last few weeks, I had many physical and online discussions about the Sudanese Quest.. The whole was concluded in a search for the factor (X); which triggers, motivates and drives the Sudanese's actions and reactions.. It s not easy as 1, 2, 3.. It is the whole epistemic journey since the BC 7000 till date.. Even so, many are fallen in geographical and ethnic traps; which had drawn the Sudanese model.. Nevertheless the sociopolitics, the economics and the strategic set-up..
I guess instead of assuming factors that were never scientifically verified, nor can stand against critics or audit.. Sudanese should look into the dreamy future..!
Yet, Understanding all what all this futuristic discussion is about, will link the future to the past.. Without understanding ourselves, we can't fairly dream about a future..

IQ

The bell curve is very much associated with intelligence quotient to draw a factual profile of what a person is capable for..
It is not a mind game, but a mind scan..
While it is an asset in recruitment, placement and career development in the industrial world; it is still a joke with ill-perceptions in the 3rd world (or correctly the underworld)..
Despite the critiques and skeptics, so far its results are proven correct in any human activities..
Usually it is taken for applications in pre-collage stages; to help choosing the appropriate study domains for the student..
During the early employment; it select the right candidates for the adequate roles and responsibilities.. Later, throughout employment; it helps identifying who leads, who performs, and who should be sacked..!
Applied psychology is the backbone of modern management..
