They examined the politician's statements in real time, and advise the public on how it is true or false.. This had made great difference in the political life and intellectuality in this tiny island state.. Can we have similar activities in our Fake States..?

Taiwan's Battle with Fake News

In January of 2020, the Taiwanese presidential election was held for the first time in 4 years. With the constant media coverage of the event both on television and the internet, Taiwan faced a new threat not seen in years past: the misinformation known as "fake news." Due to the high use of social media in Taiwan, false information can spread before anyone has a chance to disprove it, influencing the opinions of voters. To counteract this effect, groups of checkers now work swiftly to verify information as it airs, utilizing technology to protect Taiwan's journalistic integrity and discredit fake news.

Yes, there are sincere NGOs and Individuals, whom capacities and affects are marginal and unsustainable.. No wonder that all attributes of NGO movement and 3rd sector had been invented by wealth, welfare and surplus of particular communities..

العادات والتقاليد لا تنشأ قسراً ، بل تتوالد عفوياً ، لتعبر عن التوافق الجماعي بين الناس والبيئة والمحيط ، وكثيراً منها يتوالد ويتراكم دونما مبرر منطقي ، بل على العكس يكاد أن يتناقض مع الحس السليم ، وهذا هو دور الريادة المدنية والشعبية ، في استمالة النفوس والعقول من أجل التغيير الواجب ، هكذا تطورت الانسانية وتعافت ، وهذا كله يتسق مع المنطق والعلم والموهبة

 لكن المؤسف أننا أمة بغير مفهوم متفق عليه وواقعي للقيادة ، ومفردات الريادة لدينا تتعلق يأشياء كثيرة عدا الجكمة والكفاءة والصلاحية ، ولذا تصدح أفواة كثيرة بغير الحق ويتبعها قطيع كبير بغير تردد وينأى عنه نفر قليل ممن أصطفى المنطق السليم ، ثم يتشارك الجميع صفوة وجموع ورعاع في البكاء والنحيب والجدل على الحليب المسكوب
صار الأمر الفعلي يتطلب بناء الريادة وليس بناء الأمة وفي هذا تفرد كعادة أهل السودان

A School Desk

More than 25 years ago, I had supported the efforts of Save The Children in Haj Yousuf camp for IDP (Internal Displaced People).. I remember my design for a simple class desk, which was assembled by a veteran welder at AlHella AlJadidah..

At that time we produced around 50 for the mobile classrooms I had designed too.. Then I fled Sudan with no return..

Once a friend told me how my design is used all over Africa by NGOs.. Today, I found it by mere coincidence.. Certainly, no intellectual property to claim, even so, such contribution is the true claim..

I'm extremely thankful for such unprecedented opportunity..

At the USA, Mosque-goers; Sunni, Shia, Arab, South Asian, Latino, African Americans, converts and raised, from nearly every corner of the world; are confronted with critical challenges that will inevitably change both perspectives and functions of Mosques.. currently, there is a strong growing move to advocate for new looks of the Mosques, and subsequently, other issues that would shack the belief itself.. This will sail to the traditional centers of Muslim communities.. To meet the domestic unrest and dissatisfaction.. Outcomes are greatly unknown..!!

Engagement; A serious question about the political nature of Muslim organizations and hierarchy within.. Many of them had copied the Middle Eastern patriarchy despite the contradictive circumstances.. Unless structural reforms will rule, decline of Mosque-goers will form serious problem at all aspects and levels of participation, performance and leadership..!

Women; Most scholars and imams have notably weak advocacy toward women's rule, obligations and rights within the Muslim community.. This had allowed for extreme views and very radical ones as well.. Unless the Muslim women are granted rational status among their communities, the Muslim quest is jeopardized..!

Imams; Most Imams are short to meet their job requirements.. in absence of any good criteria and governance on raising, training and awarding the Imams; the Muslim communities will eventually go apart.. Imams are the glue not only between a Muslim and his Creator swt, but also among the Muslim communities.. should an application of (Muslim HR/Leadership) to be developed..?!

The above are greatly ignored by traditional Muslims in the Middle East, who holds the unspoken authority to endorse or forbid.. The historical changes are indispensable as critical part of Muslim epistemia and settlement..

There is no doubt that the New Muslim Phenomenon is coming with strong momentum and potentials.. Just coming from abroad to replace the deteriorated perspectives in Tunisia, Morocco, Cairo, Damascus and Baghdad..

As usual, Middle Eastern Muslims will never be ready to process..!

Religion and Foreign Policy

This was my Interest Statement to attend a Tony Blair Foundation's program with the Balkan Institute.. on Religion and Politics

 

Despite I had no degree in programs affiliated to international relations or geopolitics; my personal and public interests in these fields are serious and research-based..

I deeply believe in the epistemic foundations for both human urbanism and civilization; whereas our trends, phenomenon and favorites are always reflections of local cultures and identity demarcations..

As a Muslim, I do understand the amount of confusion that had flooded the Balkans with the expansion of Ottoman empire.. Similarly, the amount of confusion followed September-11..

As a Sudanese, where my country had gone apart by religious and cultural claims, I can identify the hidden triggers within national and local mindsets..

As an Arabic Speaker, I can tell about the partition within personalities and characteristics; which had considerably spread the emotional unrest..

Yet, as a Human Being, I trust both intuitions and unexplainable derivatives that bred the Millennia Generation; which uncompromisingly advocates peace..

Therefore; I'm interested to attend..!

Reengineering The Sudan

Apology for writing in English, yet recommend it for a broader engagement.. Without cross border/cultures exchange of ideas, your ideology is subject to serious quest on efficiency, integrity, and sustainability..

However, there is a need to re-engineer the mainstream, structuring simple form of organization (similar to MB); encouraging delivery rather than debate (NGO approach) and been open to all (reduce talks to deeds).. Call it Sudan Club.. or Nile League.. or whatsoever.. Just engage everyone in a greater pot of self development, evolution and upgrading.. Then, the big change will happen..

Enough wasting our youth in useless battles and chevalier attempts.. Work in different manner.. Bring change to society.. People will follow who works, not who speaks.. or shout.. People will adore who teach them how to be stronger, not how to protest.. People are simply people, not soldiers in chess game..!!

Govern vs. Governance

Governments are extracted from Govern and Governance.. They indispensably govern as per the governance; if available.. or by their de-facto process system.. Without “Govern” it is an anarchy, without “Governance” it is a hilarious jungle..

Professionals should jointly work to develop their own code of governance, each in their field.. lobby to legalize it.. and share the fair audit on implementations.. Then, governments will have apply the codes; and govern accordingly..

Regretfully, most professionals are technically busy, and not ready to spare the time to create the righteous code, meanwhile keep objecting to be governed..!!

From a Statehood point of view; This is the practical dilemma..

Drones Killings..

US Air Drones had paralyzed Taliban, eliminated Qaeda of Arabia, ereased AlShabab of Somaila, and many others who we do not know.. Just track the closed stories in the news, i.e., LRA of Uganda and War Lords of DRC Katanga.. Certainly, huge unknown civil causalities, to establish a manageable world order..!!
Is it Righteous or Wrong Doings..?

Getting to the grounds of realities and inevitable politics..
It happens that most of the chaos are among Muslims; who are mostly illiterate and unfit.. They blindly and faithfully follow their Muftis.. These Glorified Muftis are advising on 10 years a marriage age for girls, rejecting foreign non-Muslim aid, women are not allowed to drive cars, banning education for girls, an adult male should observe a women when she browses the internet, ban on Western knowledge, and thousands of hilarious Fatwas that ashamed any Muslim with brains..
Yet, those Muftis are leading the opposition to exchange or manage any social or urban developments, to survive on ignorance and back-warding stats..

How much the NGOs are frustrated and got their efforts and lives wasted..?
You can't help a person who rejects your offerings..
Among these poor people, values of human rights are not considered by their immature penal codes, fractured judiciary systems and corrupt politicians.. They can't understand or obey not to plant Cannabis in Afghanistan; stop Piracy in Gulf of Eden, provoke the State in Yemen, or support development in Mali..

It is not only the Dark Times has reborn, but irreversible conditions of humane humiliation and downgrading.. Then, what to do to get them worldly integrated.. Eliminate or Negotiate..?
This was the question, which peoples vary in answers..!

It should not be by all morals, but politicians are always in a hurry for results, once their strategists confirm both margins and potentials.. None of those politicians is that operationally genius to plan it himself, nor that morally noble to care for unseen on TVs..!!

Activists in Europe are exercising advanced intellectual mandates that are not cable to fit with the actual social orders of these outdated communities.. Most of these unfortunate people can’t understand the domains that are debated in blogs, media or academia.. Their needs are concentrated in few materialistic issues, that are controlled by who owns moneys, guns and connections.. Traditional dynasties are not functioning any more, and mostly had faded by the repeated political unrests.. There is no brains to negotiate, but helpless citizens, greedy war lords and notorious civic leaders..

There is a great divide between the need to share the pain, and the need to understand it.. This is not an advocacy for murder whatsoever, but the one to establish true consensus..
Maybe it is the time for NGOs and Activists to revisit their visions and strategies for the best ways forward.. The stage now is full of actors, including the NGOs themselves..!

Yes, it is a great problem, which requires that unknown approach and solutions.. It is increasing by the day, as result of hatred, need and death.. Regretfully, all educated or bright Afghani, Somali, and Yeminis had fled their countries and obtained US or European citizenships.. Who are stayed back there, share with their colleagues in Saudi, Mali, Chad, Sudan, Pakistan the daily search for Dollars.. Corruption became the extraordinary monsters; which no one is capable to fight or control.. It is truly frustrating for me and many others that there are no solutions working..!!

After three decades, the hidden and monopolizing hands over AlQaeda and others are not effectively unctioning.. By laws of organizational behavior, those outlaws are working by their own momentums and had created their own visions and missions..

I strongly believe that all current campaigns and understanding has to change.. Maybe if the independent activists would reach something, Officials will listen.. Between politics and covert operations there are lots of unknown and unspoken issues.. The true stories will never be folded.. This is not the concern here..

It is how to keep the people of good intensions intact, and capable to provide better solutions.. To exchange progrressive ideas rather than debatable information.. The 21st century is the era of intellegent minds rather than information..

Among human, animal and machine, returns are phenomenonal.. Human development is unachievable by government monopoly and reliance.. Therefore, NGOs were considered to fill the gaps, bringing change to the core substances..

NGOs are on three types, PR (Public Relations), Recovery and Impact.. Many who are active in Sudan are either PR or Recovery; while driven by imported approaches and priorities..

Despite the hilarious official modes; I think it is time to assemble local Impact ones; which would promote for the simple improvements in way of life among rural and slums.. It is not the cost, but the vision, the will and the know-how..

Once upon a time, I had quitted the political activities, disagreeing on the seriousness to help our folks.. People need simple actions, not the big ones, nor the talks..!!

We need to admit the lack of know-how, then we can get or learn.. but our vision and collective will are only ours, subject to how authentic we are..!!

Engineering the World..!

What is happening in Pakistan is not only a shame on the face of rescue operations, but also on the worldly-government-controlled preparedness for emergencies.. I need to put it rough and tough; it is not “engineered” enough..!

Apparently, the “Engineers” mind set is greatly different from other professionals or administrators.. The same was in Katrina, when was confused by FEMA administrators, but rescued by Army Engineers.. in Dubai, when boomed up by Engineers, then collapsed by Accountants.. Now in Pakistan as the chaos spread by run-away Politicians, and No engineers to restore sense of order.. Maybe they should revisit the curriculum of emergency workers worldwide.. By the way, if you would survey around, "Engineers" are the fewest caliber among NGOs and Emergency workers worldwide.. I remember back in Sudan in 1990, among IDPs, I was wondering why most of the aid staff are performing irrational scope breakdown, operating in a lengthy sequence or missing the logic of "Structure"..

The recent global turbulences and gaps of dissatisfaction; had pointed to the necessities of integrity, experience, innovation and visionaries to sustain any success. People need is to work on the basics; where scope is comprehensively auditable, procurement is fairly just, and governance is critically addressed. During the last few years, both government and business endeavors were packed by eloquent statements; yet could not establish sanctuaries against market extremism, surprises and/or communication violence. Confronting the overwholmed consuming trends, breaking the cycles of urban frustration, restructuring the financial maturity, and restoring both public and professional confidence are the imminent road mapping for any public strategist, planner and/or executive.

Always, there is a need for a reliable tool to turn colorful pretty pictures, concepts and wish-lists into constructible forms and realities. Not only to taste and visualize the futuristic themes, but to realize the true dramatic cost of delivery. The need for unshakable adherence to QMS, CRM, CSR and Governance is the guideline to structure confident WBS, CSFs, and KPIs for successful monitoring and operating systems. Should all endeavors been carried out as research “Projects”; which require conclusive realization, governing integrity and absolute visionary on both shareholders and processing.

It is the time for change at all levels, overwriting confused bureaucracy, misused political alliances and greedy enterprising lobbying.. It is the time to "Engineer" the world.. Prayers are continued to all the helpless poor around the globe..

A League of Islamic Knowledge..

The question is simple, and been repeated in all media channels and systems. Both Muslims and non-Muslims are feeling the heavy burden of those ill-educated Muslim preachers; who had unintentionally delivered all extremism and unlawful practices of Islam. People know how these preachers are "Disconnected" from an epistemic point of view; but their memorization of Quran, Hadeeth and referrals had granted them shields against any critics or denunciations. Some of them are smart enough to "Chain" verses and quotes in an irrevocable and stunning series, that would shut the intelligent oppositions. Then, they would enjoy the hysterical "Cheers" from illiterate commons in villages and suburban.. Some of them had managed to invade the metropolises, creating state of chaos among politicians, technocrats and clerks who could not find the time or the habit to know better about their religion and what is Halal or Haram, and certainly would not stand debating the twisted logics..!!

New political regimes in some Islamically-populated countries; during 1950-1990 had tried to eliminate or mitigate the powers of those religious preachers, but the outcomes were bloody and terrifying for anyone to reattempt. In Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Turkey, Sudan, Pakistan and Morocco violent political unrests had disturbed the way of life and still do. In the countries around the Persian or Arabian Gulf, most political systems had surrendered to the religious lobbies and groups, with slim chances for change in the near future..!! Powers of religious preachers are resultant of combined illiteracy and frustration.

Common are mostly illiterate, who almost know nothing but what their parents and community Sheikh would tell. They practice lots of false or half-true concepts, react with strong belief in religious myths, and hardly receive any broadminded public speakers. Therefore; they are truly isolated, despite how much they are (in average, more than 70% of the population). Also, Commons are mostly frustrated as lots of economic, social, educational and health concerns are deteriorating; while no one to advise, to help or to rectify. They are ignored, while their literate children often migrate to the urban centers when opportunity comes, abandoning their families behind.. Therefore, majority of Muslims are either turn radicals or depressed..!

We can learn lots from the human civilization and how urbanism been consolidated, based on upgrading the concepts, approaches and applications of living.. Considering how religion is part of the way of living, it is essential to bring a regulatory concept that is extracted from the up-to-date theories, rather than those made centuries ago in Fez, Qirawan, Cairo, Damascus or Basra.. We need to rebirth Islamic studies in more contemporary theme, with no fear or illusions..

It is a complex problem generated from the curse of ancient wealth, when most Muslim countries were colonized in 1600th-1900th for their resources. Later; they had been lift independent with deep scares of cultural confusions, economic immaturity and social destruction. No one to be blamed, as these are all history. The new Muslim politicians should lit the knowledge torches and lead the path for the future, with national confidence and public sincerity.. Regretfully, this never been in practice in any, but partially in Malaysia..!

Such an extraordinary problem requires an extraordinary solution.. I think the following triple-cores plan will help.

Firstly; All NGOs should form and join a League of Islamic Knowledge, where they would agree to form and support an open curriculum for Islamic Studies; aims to produce new breed of Muslim Preachers. Enrollment is limited to degree holders, Programs includes fair portion of Quran and Hadeeth memorization, and Certification Board should include some scholars.

Secondly, the same league should organize programs to Employ those graduates in mosques and community centers, against a fair and attractive wages; which are generated through allocations, investments or fundraising.

Thirdly, alike all professional bodies, those graduates should obtain Annual PDUs for 10 years, which are provided by certified training centers.

I can read a future of such applications, as no difference from any other civic development had been witnessed in the Europe, North America or Far East..
We need to turn Islam from a religion to a way of life..
This is how we can bring a lasting change to the Muslim world..
Do we have the political will, as individuals and NGOs to make a difference..?
