Abyie.. Again..!

The historical issue of Abyie is either Political or Epistemic..

For centuries, Misseriya and Dinka Ngok are clashing during the dry season, with no lasting hard feelings..
Yes, it is always triggered by Misseriya; who travel south in dry season to water their herds..
Both are herdsmen, who value their cattle and would die for them..

The jam among the herds are inevitable, yet they have no marks or labels..
Misseriya’s journey is about 100 km within Ngok territories..
There are no alternative, but to jam and clash..

This was the historical repeated story, with lots of consequences..

Oil reserves has nothing to do with this annual clashes..
Oil is almost 100 km away from the hot spots..
But explorations are spreading all over the county..

Politicians from both sides are using the history to ignite the future..
There is no one interested developing a lasting solution..
There is no one with a vision to realize that it is a simple conflict requires simple solution..

The Misseriya are interested in the Water, not in the Land..!

Dig a “Water Canal” (150 km), and “Mark the Cattle”..
Add to it some flavors of “Community Centers” and "Farming" projects..
The Canal will be the “Partition” border..
Only "US$ 200 mln" will do..!!

Yes, there will be environmental impact, but manageable..

Is it that hard to imagine or hard to finance..?

It is an epistemic issue..

The Conflict

The Solution

Tel Aviv - Juba

SINCE WHEN ISRAHELL LIKES BLACK AFRICANS?
"Israel" has signed a pact to cooperate on water infrastructure and technology development with South Sudan, the first economic cooperation agreement between Tel Aviv and Juba.
“We see this as a privilege to be the first to sign an agreement with the new state,” Energy Minister Landau addressed the South Sudanese official in a statement. “We will continue to do everything possible in order to assist you. You are among friends,” he added.

Achilles’ Heel of Egypt
For centuries, there were no competition or power struggle on the Nile Riverheads.. The geopolitics of Nile Basin were always about maintaining the flow towards the Mediterranean.. Various exercises and scenarios were always ready for corrective actions, including the armed force.. Political regimes across the Nile were mostly aware of the mechanism and its associated engagements.. The Ottomans of Egypt had elevated the issue into more urban and legal levels, whereas treaties and protocols were simulated or imposed among the 11 countries sharing the water rights.. Both diplomatic efforts and covert operations were the effective theme during Nasser’s era; with mixed patriotic, regional and continent-level slogans.. However, the most powerful African country in 1960th had had the legitimate rights to serve its rapidly increasing population; with their shear demand on basic needs, centered by water..

Nasser had triggered the Israelis attention to seek all potential and unexpected ways to contain both the Egyptian regional ambitions, and the Egyptian strategic hostility with Israel.. The Nile is the Achilles’ Heel of Egypt.. Israel tried hard during the last 40 years to penetrate Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya to develop stable allies that would affect the Egyptian water security and welfare.. Egyptians had known the attempts, and had confronted with proactive and reactive plans to maintain their strong indispensible ties with the Nile countries.. This had created the legacy of Egyptian African Policy during 1960-1980, which was remarkable yet unspeakable cross-border programs of corporation and development..

Despite his military up-bringing; Mubarak had turned his back to Africa, strengthening the Egyptian Israeli ties.. On the contrary, Israel had never let to go their strategic goals on the Nile, while the Peace Treaty with Egypt had enabled them to establish more effective policy, actions and relationships.. On the Dawn of 21st century, Israel had strong and comprehensive relations with most of the Nile Countries; which had been served with the Israeli notable technological spearheading..

Since the 1980, Israeli support to the Separatists of Southern Sudan was well reported.. Once the Partition was announced; Israeli flags had been raised along the South Sudan symbols.. Despite the disappointment South Sudanese officials had when sought swift Israeli development support; Israelis continued designing various models to synchronize their strategic orientation with the naivety of this New State..Professionally, the Israeli models are not what is needed for South Sudan, which critically require structural platforms rather than technological boosts.. This Water Management Agreement is 1st between the two states, and will not be the last.. Yes, there are no clear details about scope, deliverables, duration, but it is well known to be a launch for the formal umbrella for all potential Israeli activities, advices and plots as well..

State of South Sudan has the legitimate right to seek any support to develop their unbelievable state of anarchy, despair and devastation into a decent level of a State-Run-Country.. Yet; their obvious pitfall will be gaming with strong parties in unmerciful politics and games of power.. Structures, resources and ranks of South Sudan are far short from the necessary readiness and prequalification for such games, yet their neighboring and friend countries are hesitant to provide any true support.. Regretfully, they once again, prove how Africans are mostly incompetent to mind their own business..!!

The Birth of South Sudan

One of the main causes of South Sudan’s high maternal mortality rate is a dearth of qualified birth attendants: during the civil wars that raged since the mid-1950s conducting the necessary formal medical training was all but impossible.

Now, seven years after a peace accord was signed, and a year after South Sudan gained independence from Sudan, things are beginning to change.

IRIN’s latest film, South Sudan - Birth of Nation, focuses on Juba Teaching Hospital’s new college of nursing and midwifery. Students here, drawn from all of the country’s 17 states, speak of their determination to take their new skills back to their villages to reduce the scourge of maternal mortality.

SS Development Ring..

The world's newest country is poor, unutilized and failed in rates that get further deteriorated and scrambled by time and politics.. The HDIs show critical combinations that would normally take decades to stabilize, rather than progressively change or develop..

No one would blame the fragile intelligentsia or inexperienced administrators to produce reliable frameworks and road maps for developments; while the political lobbyists enjoy stronger overseas support and unaudited funds..

During my professional endeavors, a concept was developed on a constructible orientation towards an integrated national development in the South Sudan.. The stats had been well analyzed, and the numbers were well planned.. In today’s world, finance and funds are only and magically triggered by doubtlessness, compliances and matrixes..

This proposed scheme targets 2,500km of surface transit, 7 regional land ports, 14 urban centers and 5,000,000 acres of agro framing.. This is a wellbeing transformation of more than 2,000,000 capita, with combined monetary revenues of more than $10,000,000,000 per annum..!

SSGOV is not required to invest a penny..!
Imagine..!

African-African Slavery..

This story support the claims that Black Slavery is domestic heritage rather than colonial suppression.. Investigating deeper will change lots of the consumed and perceived facts..!!

A Black-Black Slavery; which both Arabs and European had little to do with.. It was only an annex to a domestic Africanpractice.. However, it would be controversial to condemn their seizure of business opportunities..!!

In South Sudan, Girls Are Given Away to Settle Family Feuds
by Tom Rhodes Apr 6, 2012 4:45 AM EDT
The world’s newest country still practices a shameful old tradition. Now a new movement aims to stop it.
Atia Odongi was 8 years old when her family gave her away. A crime had been committed in her town of Torit in South Sudan—Atia was selected to pay the price.
Atia’s brother had killed a man over a cattle dispute, so Atia was handed over to the man’s family as
compensation. It’s a traditional practice in communities across her state of Eastern Equatoria in South Sudan, the country that became independent from Sudan in July 2011, after decades of civil war. For girls like Atia, their life becomes one of servitude and abuse, as the new families often harbor bitterness, taking revenge upon the girls they are given.
When Atia turned 9 years old, she was married to a son in her new family. When that man died of an illness, she was passed on to a younger brother. She spent her days scrubbing and cleaning—and being raped repeatedly by her new husband and other men in the family, with the intention of producing a child to replace the murdered family member. She was beaten if she fought back.
“I tried to kill myself twice,” says Atia, now 14 and still living in servitude.

Heglig or Panthou..?

Heglig or Panthou..
This is the question..
A few hundred people small town in the middle of nowhere..
Only was known as Pump Station No. 1; in the Sudanese pipeline..
It became a news by itself.. False of True..
It also became Panthou..
Once was land of drought and ghosts..
It became land of Patriotism and Martyrdom..
A Land of Deceive and Partition..
Whenever they celebrate a victory or mourn a causality..
I feel how my country is lost..!
Al-Bashier and his Inqaz were never successful partitioning Sudan..
Their goal is finally accomplished..
In the glorified celebrations of hilarious victories..
Sudan became consensually TWO Countries..
Who had chanted against the forced Partition..
Now chants for the hallucinated Victory..!!
Is there a Victory among Brothers..?
No one asks.. No one cares..
The media machine runs fast, consuming Hearts and Minds..
Across the new factual Line of Divide..
Many lives, souls and hopes were wasted..
Many Facts and Estates were vulgarly replaced..
No one feels.. lives..
No one would survive..!!

The Military of Sudan

English translation below

Military of Sudan

Sudanese Military were inspired by and inherited culture and structures many centuries.. Alike all human and old urban societies; it had evolved on the shoulders of six estate pillars: Laborers, Traders, Writers, Bureaucratic, Military and Aristocracy.. However, the interaction of human societies with economic conditions and geopolitics, was always and inevitably various.. Therefore, social development came in different and contradictory by interactions and relationships among nations; and termed the political connection between Imperialism and Alliances..

In any case, Sudanese Military and his soldiers are descendents of several cultures; which had reflected cultural and ethnic variation; while created a distinct sociopolitical pot.. In the ancient neighborhoods of Omdurman; their families used to call themselves “The Sudan”; an expression not only overlap the ethnic fusion with each other; but also a reality of professional life and that was shared..

From the culture of Sahara and Tuarig; they got clung and patience, from the culture of savannah and jungles They mastered deception and cunning, From Arabism; they distinguished themselves with pride and honor, and from the Nile Valley they were known of joviality.. Their brands of masculinity, manners and patriarchy were landmarks wherever they go.. Without noise or priggism; they left their marks, as well as their forgotten descendants; in Egypt, Palestine, Hijaz, Turkey and Mexico, and most recently in Lebanon..

Sudanese Military did not bother of who sits in the presidential palace, but did not turn a blind eye on the extent of eligibility and estimated he has.. So, they came out many times to receive power when the outbreak of neglect and deterioration in the country.. They did not resist the civilians role when is proved to political maturity and awareness of what is necessary to build a nation.. Sudanese Military had not in any day been puppets for the politicians, but they were always the red line, the ringing alarm and painful whip on who tried to manipulate the destiny of the country and the people.. Sudan Military was Ali Abdul-Latif, Abukadok and Rasas; whereas a great difference between them and those who have left Al-Bashir’s gang to rule their today’s destiny..

The famous Sudanese Military has ended since the manipulations by the politicians of the New Sudan.. Since Nimeiri’s Advisors gave military ranks to Customs and fire-brigades; since changed code of discipline to include growing bears; since that moral fractions grew by ethnicities; since the demoralizing the officers by bonuses, positions and travel allowances, since the Military Intelligence gained the upper hand in order to differentiate and dominates, since provisional and early retirement became in practice, and since it became a military became a career of who has no profession.. Current Personnel has trained Somali hackers and Al-Shabab gang, conspired with Afewerki of Eretria, Gaddafi of Libya and Dibbi of Chad and Musifini of Uganda..

Sudanese Military had drawn our traditional identity and national security; which has set the standard distribution of units and forces, as well as participating across the border between Gaza, Suez and Bani Ghazi.. It also set the rules of punishment or exile of leaders.. That forgotten dates to the events of 1924, 1949 & 1971

Today, no one knows what is the Army of Sudan.. To whom it belongs, associates with and cares.. To whom it warn of hostile.. Al-Inqaz had intertwined and reverted its values and components; among the events of El Geneina, Kadugli, Damazin and Heglig .. Al-Inqaz had succeeded to discord the people of Sudan, so they became enemies; while once were only some naughty brothers..

So, no wonder the turn of battles and bloodshed to be policy instruments, the sacrifices to be media loudspeakers, and the Military-Theme to be the folkloric songs, praise politicians, their parties and the idiots around them.. The majority are the generations that did not know anything but the absurd and amputated and distorted culture of Inqaz.. The older generations who live their frustrations and pain, and became prisoners of silence..

Heglig..

A dead soldier at Heglig..
Could be a northern or a Southern..
However; A Sudanese..!

Heglig.. where Sudanese bloods mixed and wasted..
It is the frustrated search for a victory; in times of decline..
It is the hilarious quest of ID; in times of defeat..
It is the adolescent emotions; in times of partition..
The political anarchy dominates the scene..

Pity..!

Both shrills and screams had their tunes right..
Laughs and tears came at the same night..
A land had known the same feet in draughts..
Swallowed their ancestors, waste and sweat
A spot listened to harmony of voices and lights
Not a Curse of Oil among people cursed by fights..
But a Curse of Politics among people lost their sights..!

Sudan, six months after separation..

Be aware of Maya Khan.. and Antichrist..!!

I doubt it was unintentional entry of the program..

When western democracies were challenged by measures of prosperity and equality; Youngsters’ Movements were very enthusiastic and furious on negotiating with the formal establishments on measures and road mapping.. Notably, many across Europe had replaced the eagerness for tangible change into intangible one on the shores of Goa or within the blue clouds.. On parallel, who had kept standing, had introduced the NGO and Civic movements worldwide.. However, the outcomes and its wide correlative implications, had forced De Gaulle and Nixon to resign.. This had interpreted the new grown public culture..

Bottom line: There is a compulsory route for political maturity, which our people are experiencing now..

There is no numbers to assess or to weight, but loud echo from traditional and new media..

In a transforming world; from Information into intelligence, what is the basis of any change campaigns..? In a country with poor rates of HDI, how far voices of change would reach..? Shall we, as always used to; satisfy with Central Khartoum as expression and focus, or reach out the Marginal People..? Which social models we are after or looking for..? Which Sudan we are talking about, or representing..?

There is no Fast-Track cultural change, nor a Fast maturity.. We have long walk to go, not hesitant but awaked-aware..!!

Pibor Massacre..

Regretfully; more thousands are on the death row to feed the global resources politics.. What's more expected, when a partition was never meant for the people, never interpret their actual dreams or sorrows, never provided framework for a healthy nation to be..!!

Southern Sudan is the 2nd on failed states, the 2nd last in human development.. facts will last for a while..

The clue: Does ICC keep AlBashier enlisted..?

Thousands massacred as two tribes go to war in South Sudan

UN peacekeepers tell residents of Jonglei state capital to flee as raiders approach
Daniel Howden Saturday 07 January 2012
More than 3,000 people have been reported killed in South Sudan during a week of clashes between two tribes in the world's newest state.
Hundreds of children are missing and entire villages are said to have been burnt as a huge raiding party from the Lou Nuer tribe swept through a remote area in the east of the country, attacking their neighbours, the Murle people.
The war party, estimated to be 6,000-strong, has been marching south towards the main town in the Murle area, Pibor, crossing hundreds of miles on foot.
The fighting is part of an escalating war of reprisals between two ethnic groups who rely for survival on vast herds of cattle in one of the least developed countries on earth, and launch regular raids to snatch livestock, women and children.

Sino-Japanese Hard-Talk..

While the power is shifting away, my outspoken (A/Conditioned & Internet-Wired) folks still debating on how to remove AlBasheer and his "Inqaz" regime..!
While my poor helpless People out there; are short of breathe to revolt, almost short of dreams to live.. and certainly short of resources to decisively act..
If I'd have the authority, shall shut down all mass media instruments..Shall only allow the naive protests and the unplanned armed coups.. as always Sudan used to..!!

Should the people stop listening or thinking.. and helplessly fight for the life..?

From an expat at A/C study-room..!!!!!!!!!!

Japan approved a plan Nov. 1 to dispatch 200 Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces engineers to South Sudan in January, with an additional 300 to be sent later. Part of a five-year U.N. nation-building mission, the engineers will help build roads and bridges in and around the newly independent country’s capital, Juba.

The deployment represents a continuation of Japan’s efforts to expand the overseas missions of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), currently experiencing increased domestic support, beyond disaster relief, anti-piracy and humanitarian initiatives. The move into South Sudan may also signal a renewed effort to gradually reintroduce JSDF operations into strategic foreign policy initiatives — in this case, energy security. If it manages to secure a stronger foothold in South Sudan, Japan will be better positioned to deal with Chinese influence in the tumultuous Sudanese-South Sudanese oil industry framework.

New Capital of Southern Sudan..

By Julius N. Uma
October 28, 2011 (JUBA) - Sudan Tribune

Pan-China Construction Group, a Chinese company, has been awarded the lucrative contract to design Ramciel, the proposed location for South Sudan’s new capital, Sudan Tribune understands. The company reportedly beat off stiff competition from several bidders, including a South Korean firm, after they presented design proposals for construction of the new capital, which will be situated about 65 miles (105km) north of Juba, the country’s current capital.

“After months of intensive bidding, the government has finally awarded Pan-China Construction Group the multi-million dollar deal to design the new capital. Both parties are required to sign a memorandum of understanding before work can commence,” an official from South Sudan’s housing and physical planning ministry, who preferred anonymity, revealed.

South Sudan’s decision to relocate its capital, a few months after the country attained its independence on 9 July, resulted from a cabinet resolution. The Chinese company specialises in urban construction, according to its website.

Since its establishment in 1993, Pan-China has reportedly undertaken development, design, construction and project management for many high-profile projects. In Africa, for instance, the company has been awarded contracts in Angola, Tanzania and Nigeria.

In June this year, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), a state-owned construction company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the southern government to cooperate broadly during the course of the construction of the new capital.

Lee Ji-song, LH’s chief executive officer, said in a statement that the agreement will encompass a broader aspect of cooperation, including mutual technical collaboration on the master plan for the new country’s capital.

OK, Let me talk as an Urban Development Expert..
On 9th Feb 2011, I had posted about the early model developed at the USA for the new Capital at Ramcel.. http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2011/02/capital-at-ramcel.html

Yes, I had denounced the project, considering how huge the required investments, while other priorities are critical to sustain the newly born government and country..
Now, Chinese are coming with tractors instead of smuggled guns..!!
Certainly, they had offered parallel loans to fund the project, while granting back the bid.. Knowing that the profits will not be in the basic contract, but in the generated subcontracts for 10-30 years ahead..!
This is how urban developments works..
This is why it is a troubling job..!
In addition, GOSS has no adequate expertise to align the urban and real estate products to its own goals, nor has a smart mechanism to control the associated bribes and personal gains..

Enthusiasm and self recognition do not justify wasting lots of moneys on project with critical uncertainties: poor soil mechanics, absent regional accessibility, immature ecology management and chaotic sustainability.. Adding to this the required municipal management and services..

My initial calculations tell:
Plot 4,000,000 m2 (It is a Village not a City..!)
Infrastructure cost $ 150,000,000 (Probably the Chinese Contract..!)
Buildings $ 5,000,000,000 (Only value of proposals)
Population 80,000 (20% are GOSS Staff)
Still not talking about Transit, Economic Aggregates, Socioeconomic Patterns. etc..

P.S.; It is never successful to tender design and building a City in 8 months..!!!!

Slaughtering Sudan..!

Lowering the Sudanese Flag in Juba..
For many people, it was an confusing occasion..
Between the false wishes of prosperous tomorrow, and bitter pains of yesterday..

True: Many in the Northern Sudan curse, humiliate or disgrace the Southern Sudanese folks.. Many are open-minded enough to sincerely congratulate SS for independence.. Others are ignorant enough not to care.. Many are sad enough to feel extremely angry.. Many belong to the new fantasy and hilarious breed; who have no purpose or logic of their reactions or comments..!

True; Many in Southern Sudan feel much hatred towards the Northern Sudanese Folks.. Many envy much NS for the relatively advanced civic order.. Many want much a bigger bite from the estimated wealthy cake.. Many got the much meaningless degrees in a country ruled by unemployment and unfaithful.. Many read much about revolutionists worldwide and like very much to try.. Many enjoy very much fire the K-47.. Many still have no experience about potable water, sanitary systems, food cuisines or cloth fashions.. Many are just much rubbish to talk to, unless you go back in time..!

Today; I mourn a Country slaughtered by Globalization & Democracy..!
I reserve my rights to mourn Sudan, whom unlikely for me to observe united again, as inevitably and wishfully will be..

Sadly enough that opportunities to manage our own politics are fading out.. This is where Globalization interferes within our realization and decisions making.. Then, the appropriate road map is always and further more missed, lost or confused.. Many players are hiding in the back stage.. Let's do the math: Nile Waters, Precious Metals. Uranium, Crude, Precious Stones, and 300 million acres of fertile land.. China had already allocated one of its state companies for each of Sudanese provinces.. Isreal already exercises in Juba.. AlBasheer escape the ICC by being the 1st to acknowledge ROSS.. Qatari AlJazeerah already established a set in Juba.. $2.4 billion were vanished in SS during 2007-2010.. etc..!

Sadly enough that the mightiness of media and its cordially relations with politics and moneys had stripped all commons from brains and sights.. This times of "The Forced Consciousness" is no difference from The Forced Marriages; when the exotic aspiration of the occasion would hide the misery of personal suppression.. People joyfully chants in Juba, while seeds of suffering are hiding beyond each corner.. The SS Politicians followed the international Lobbyists in calling and working for independence, while their soft and hard resources are not sufficient for municipal administration.. If you want to pass a corrupt notion, put it for public vote..!! 70% of SS folks has no knowledge, understanding or appetite for political plans.. They dream of simple needs to be fulfilled.. which such the 98% vote will not provide..!!

We all share both guilt and gift..
We Separate to Learn how seriously and faithfully to Unite..!
We all Sudanese..!!

Slavery, Sudan and Others..!

Kathleen and Adam had invited me to a great challenging and energizing debate on Slavery in the Sudan. Kathleen had invited a controversial African American author, who is a Sudanese descendant, to contribute to her Radio Talk Show.
For the common good, I find it great to share with readers.

Firstly; I need to file my apology, as had unintentionally created confusion..! I had addressed the matter in four parallel streams: Slavery in the Sudan, Historical Slavery by Arabs, Slavery in Islam, and Slavery among non-Arabs.. I did not hi-light the demises.. I had dropped all allegations of Ms Boof, despite how she is a center-point for Kathleen’s interview..
Pls allow me to conclude it; so far:

a. Slavery in The Sudan:
1. Alike everywhere else Sudan had known slavery not only North/South, but also South/North and South/South; as an extended African traditions. Linguistic and anthropological hurdles make it uneasy job to discover, understand and report.

2. Sudan is a large country with more than 220 known tribes and ethnic groups, shallow administrative history and vast resources that had been crowned with crude oil. Ruling Sudan was always a British/Egyptian concern; not as Africa/Arab gate, but as North/South quest (Rich/Poor, Developed/Underdeveloped or Civilized/Indigenous Syndromes). http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2009/10/tribes-of-sudan.html )

3. Media had celebrated the particular North/South slavery, echoing international politics and trends; rather than the fair stand to address the global issue. Same applies elsewhere among all Sudanese and African tribes. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2010/12/nuba-what-does-it-mean-in-hieroglyphy.html )

4. There was no formal slavery in Sudan, as no paper had been historically issued to document a slave’s statuary. Slaves were either identified by their giving names, social rank or jobs. (My own grand grand father was named Abdelseed –Master’s Slave; which is a social affiliation to slavery, a religious affiliation to Sayed Al-Mirghani, a famous Sudanese Sufi or a typical folkloric affiliation to humility..!!)

5. Slavery in Sudan was usually unilateral, and never transferred to the children. This is usually is confused with the volunteer attachment to the Mastering families due to disorder syndromes, not as social or cultural stigmas.

6. Till date, particularly in Abyie area, nomadic Dinka and Messeriya are continuing their seasonal battles on water-rights; which is often resulted in enslavements, forced marriages and ethnically-mixed families. This will likely continue; despite the international efforts; which so-far failed to address the roots and solutions. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/search/label/Abyie )

7. In Abyie; thanks to global media; they had started to learn the terms of ethnic cleansing..! It is the only place where current forms of slavery are taking place. Both parties battle and enslave each other. This is where most anti-slavery in Sudan are referring.. Ironically, rapping is not included in their code.. so-far..!!

8. The complex geopolitics of Sudan had made it vulnerable to many as an attractive topic with challenging aggregates. Same applies to Prof. Mamdani; who had addressed many issues in wrong structure. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2009/12/prof-mamdani-on-darfur-sudan.html )

9. International officials had often showed great concerns for Darfur, rather than lost boys or slavery issues. This would tell how complex the issues are as well how sentimental the advocates. Despite all atrocities in Darfur, no slavery had been or currently practiced. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2009/09/cafe-darfur.html  )

10. The local intellectual debates on Sudan have no room for shallow contributions alike what Ms Boof has. Dr Deng is a fine scholar who had regretfully changed positions and views between 1970th and 2010th. He simply followed the in-house confusion, which expat professional Sudanese – like me, are free from. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2009/06/sudanese-passions.html  )

11. Dr Jok is a new name in the remote-Sudanese horizons, who would represent the new global trends of “Go-Getter” rather than the integral scientific foundations. Simply he mixes Historical theories with politics and common media trends. Should academics drive not be driven?

12. Bottom lines: Sudanese Slavery is not denied linguistically or historically yet need to be adequately addressed to establish a reliable progressive knowledge. It will continue to be a hot topic in the media with fear to turn into an intellectual entertainment (alike claims and counter claims on Palestine/Israel issues). Therefore, maybe your Radio-Show should host some voices from the other side as well. I had suggested to you some entrusted intellectuals who would add value.

b. Historical Slavery by Arabs:
1. Like all ancient communities, Arabs had known slavery as domestic supplement, as trading material and as political element. Till date, there is informal or indirect slavery which is no different from India, South East Asia or Central African countries. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2010/07/slavery-was-always-economic-practice.html  )

2. Slaves among Arabs were not color coded, as had come from all over the world. You may trace their DNA back to Caucus, Balkan, Persia, Iberia, Africa and very few from the Indian Subcontinent.

3. In Arabian Peninsula, Egypt and Levant slaves used to hold documents describing their IDs. This was an Ottoman administrative practice. Last formal slave was formally emancipated in the Arabian Gulf in 1972, as part of its political modernization.

4. Slavery for Arabs had no color code, unless related to the price tag. In many cases, color code would attribute the likelihood of how a slave is domestically entrusted or intimately preferred. The same had applied elsewhere since dawn of time.

5. Arabs had exceptionally allowed Slaves to marry, breed and partially earn in addition to the globally shared conditioned-emancipation. Slavery among Arabs was not widely transferable to children.

6. Wealthy Mamluk had encouraged slavery to build armies and work force, which was driven by prices rather than skills. The same was later exercised by Ottomans, and was widely reflected back in the dark-skin ghettos in most of Arab cities.

7. The silly allegations that Palestinians are currently buying slave is out of any context. The dark-skin Palestinians (descendents of Ottoman armies and/or slaves) have their own issues of integration to ethnically and culturally develop. Unity against Zionism consolidating the Palestinian society. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2010/08/african-palestinians.html  )

8. Today’s Arabs celebrate their cultural diversity; with growing trend to erase cultural and ethnic barriers among their peoples. It is an inevitable move to join global human rights landscape and mind-set. Generally, facts of geopolitics and socioeconomics would put Arabs at higher ranks than African, which would fuel the African sense of inequality. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2010/11/ethnic-seizure.html  )

c. Slavery in Islam:
1. Islam never encouraged nor condemned slavery. On the contrary, it encouraged emancipation of slaves, and been widely used in religious legislations and rulings. (http://adilsud.wordpress.com/slavery/  )

2. Slavery in Islam was never color-coded, as was addressed as typical and generic human status. Many of famous early Muslims were emancipated slaves from various ethnicities. http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2011/03/colorism.html )

3. Ottomans had used the non-condemnation of slavery to spread its trade and utilize the slaves for their expanded armies, economics and luxuries. Wherever Ottomans had their heavy boots, ghettos of slaves or ethnic disorders are formulated.

4. The controversy stills alive by the recent debates launched by Fundamentalists and Jihadists, who had stood still on some historical rulings that cannot be applied in Today’s world. No one is further enslaved if defeated in the battlefields..!

5. Most of religions are addressing a faithful utopia which is not there.. Therefore, many rulings, in most religions, are set as benchmarking rather than true conductions. Similarly, enslaving others or emancipating slaves is widely hypothetical.

6. There is no doubt that Islam suffers from its incompetent preachers. This is what had open the doors not only for its confrontation with the other, but also within.. Today, many calls are intensifying to establish a new Islamic code of Knowledge, which would enable correcting practices, contributing to development, and adding value to the globe. (http://adilsud.blogspot.com/2010/07/league-of-islamic-knowledge.html  )

d. Slavery among non-Arabs:
1. The most horrific practice in today’s world is the traditional female-gifts to priests, particularly in the Western African villages. This practice is only supported by ancient traditions, deformed political systems and out-dated rulings. This is widely practiced despite of the religious affiliations.

2. Forced Marriages in Indian Subcontinent is the surviving form of hidden slavery, which is widely practiced in rural areas. The active NGOs in those countries are battling not only the traditional perceptions and concepts, but also syndromes and resulted disorders.

3. Sweat-Shops in Indochina are commonly known among the native of these countries; which mix criminal structure with economic one. It is usually protected by organized crime rather than social traditions. It is the backbone of Chinese and Asian Tiger’s mysterious economic boom. Regretfully, very few researches address these facts.

4. Recently, some Sudanese (1500 in total) had fled to Israel in their search to escape the deteriorated conditions back home. This had included Muslim, Christian, Darfureans and Dinks, yet mostly are unskilled labor. Many Eritrean and Ugandans had shared the same dangerous smuggling routes to Israel, who were all trapped by Israeli laws that do not recognize asylum seekers..!
