Lebanon, Sudan and Others..!!

Lebanon: a Brain-Dead country

The Lebanese “superiority syndrome” may push them to believe that they are the smartest people on the face on this planet. It may even push them to fall victims to the anecdote that God has been so generous with them to make them the perfect country on the face of this earth, but since nothing is perfect, God gave them the worst neighbors, which is why they ended up in this worthless situation.
http://lebaneseexpatriate.wordpress.com/2012/06/27/lebanon-a-braindead-country/

Superiority Syndrome is not limited to Lebanon, but to most Arab Countries.. This comes in various terms, published or hidden.. Only Oman, Bahrain, Libya and Morocco had abandoned the hysterical competition.. Otherwise; all are Unique, Ideal, Mighty, Smart, Attractive, Historical, Prosperous or Rich.. This is why Arabic Spring falls apart, unable to sustain any meaningfulness..!!!

Moonfleet Eldai In Lebanon for sure there is this thing. I have experienced the condescension of their superiority so much.

As a Sudanese however do you think we suffer from this syndrome too ? Like you know our reputation as humble and simple people place as somewhere further away from Superiority Syndrome and I agree, the closest I have seen to us are teh Omanis.

Sorry my Friend.. We "unspeakingly" believe that we know better, think better, much smarter, more religious and more brave.. We care less for any social or behavioral or protocol or fashion trends if not ours.. We ignore and never try to understand why a husband and wife should walk shoulder to shoulder.. We have our choice of colors (sharp), Arabic tongue (non-understandable by native Arabs), destinations (always do prayers to the east) and definitions (Marxism doesn't violate Islam)..

We nomad-alike hide our ego and contradictions under thick layers of good village-manners and un-urban faithfulness.. When Urbanity stormed our lives in 1980th, an illiterate money broker married a lawyer-daughter of Chief Justice..!! When politics ruled, a proud Janjaweed Leader sold his daughter to Dibi of Chad for $24 mln.. Yet we claim manly, honorable and non-materialistic..

However, Malaysians and Sudanese behave alike, never tell the other what we truly think or feel; therefore we both are always decent, lovable and trustworthy.. yet hardly innovative or reliable for progressive accomplishments..!!!
We are resistant to integral and comprehensive change..
Sorry buddy; you had just triggered my heartache, and others' curses...!!

If Robert Fisk had described Lebanon as a Rolls Royce with "Square" tires.. Sudan is another with no tires..!!

Moonfleet Eldai Hahahaha uncle Adil, that heartache, not at all. I see that most of the folks from my generation and perhaps even including myself, we are not very nationalistic or particularly proud of Sudan at this time, but perhaps rather more fond of the times the elder generations are reminiscent of. Today the Sudanese diaspora is widely spread around, my inquisitive mind shows me patterns of behavior and value systems that are very distinct between inland and offshore Sudanese. That was striking when I was doing my studies, the folks coming from Sudan were kind of totally different than us in their approach to life and studies.

It will be great to see a comparative dialog/research done in Sudanese migration and integration world-wide.

If we don't tell the others what we truly think or feel that doesn't put us on the same wagon, remember, you have to utter it in order to be incriminated or exonerated, if it was kept within yourself that doesn't

Jehad Makhoul Despite all statistics Lebanon remains the most intriguing country in the whole of the middle east. With limited resources and huge differences among its people, Lebanese manage their way to dazzle worldwide! No other country in the whole world with such limited resources could have endured thirty five years of civil war, occupation by Palestinians, Syrians and Israelis and remained intact. With a barely equipped army and police force, limited financial resources and many differences, Lebanon stands and the Lebanese create their own opportunities and mostly excel! Yes it is intriguing.

Most of the people of my generation and the older, were simply noisy.. Big mouths and words rather than deeds.. Twisted concepts, imaginary patriotism, paradoxical practices and great schizophrenia.. The contradictions between our factual national chronicles and the idealistic national struggles, as given in historical and geopolitics tales..

Yet, my generation had managed to make bigger banners and appealing slogans, as if they had done and achieved the unthinkable; while they had done nothing in any decent analysis..!!

The development we had delivered were product of industrialization rather than planning.. The high ratings were resultant of humble demands, cheap resources, and non-stressfulness.. Regretfully, across the 3rd world (including Sudan and other Arabs) no fair assessment was made to critic the baseless claims of achievement..
By definition; Achievement is confrontation against seizure or stress.. We had got our independence by a signature of Nasser, not by our blood.. This is where our own patriotic history is fake and false.. yet, nice songs to repeat..!!

Both Generation Z and Millennia are not nationalistic by definition; while strive in their endeavor for quality and recognition to upgrade their nations are 1st intakes.. Patriotism has now different meaning and taste all together.. This is not Sudanese, but inevitably global..

I had called, and subsequentially abandoned political activism, for practical code of politics rather than demonstration and publications (which by definition trigger great enthusiasm by playing hide & seek with authorities).. Predicting the Diaspora to be the password for the future and the good governance..

Therefore, I fully feel, understand and endorse your words.. Good Luck

Moonfleet Eldai Your words put things in a excellent luminance.

The brilliance of Lebanese culture and people is notable, except for who are more affectionate with the Lebanese downtown-girls.. Maybe our shallow chronicles had only traced some few media and entertainment persons.. The great bloc of Lebanese pioneer technology, academics and management; with exceptional professionalism and efficiency..

Challenges of resources, war and politics had created a culture of opportunists, which had put the normal wrongdoings on loudspeakers.. Regional and global politics had turned the atmosphere into hatred and bigotry, deepening cult and sectarian differences and divides..

The Lantern of Levant lost most of its candles.. Yet; Lebanese are unique, with a distinct heritage of their own; which only became a bloody burden when affiliated to the others..!!

It was my dream to retire some where; overlooking the Lebanese Mediterranean..

The Claimed Years..!

We used to meet at the sunset
Sit on the old bridge
Watching the fog descends on the plain
Erasing both horizon and roads
Our converge was unknown
Apart from sky and October’s leafs
He told me how he loves me
I love you
Then, the sad clouds escaped within us

O my claimed years, would you return
Please return back, though once
Then, leave me at my childhood
Let me run in the sunny alleys
O my claimed years, would you return
Please return back, though once
Restore my claimed laughs
Whose echo at each corner
I remember how they described me
When I waited, though you forgot
Under the rain, I had waited
Till the summer returned, but you did not

O my claimed years, would you return
Please return back, though once
Then, leave me at my childhood
Let me run in the sunny alleys
O my claimed years, would you return
Please return back, though once
Restore my claimed laughs
Whose echo at each corner

Political Utopia..

During the last 15 months, which had the nickname Arabic Spring; lots of serious debates and hilarious hypocrisy had enabled the outstanding (and profitable) circulations of both old and new media.. Many names came out as commentators, analysts and journalists.. Several hundred became overnight notable political activists, while dozens of others became overnight leaders-in-charge.. However, such chaos reflects decades of bizarre ideology creation and transformation.. Arabs had that articulation in 1970th, whereas all political mandates and sociopolitical characteristics had changed..

Despite how the dream of Utopia was agreed to be unrealistic and symbolic; it had conceived with the inevitably-realistic politics; and delivered mass confusion and uncertainty.. People, particularly the youth, had turned their gatherings in streets, cafes, clubs, institutions and Facebook into race for assumptions, rumors and imputed facts.. The high rates of cultural deficit and isolation; had made it easy to translate the domains, and fill the context by inadequate local substances.. Both intelligentsia and commons were easy prey by professional monopolies and distractions; and by their own Political Utopia..

The devil was locally made by a supposedly intellectual elite, whose exposure to the world is limited.. Linguistic barriers, poor translation-production, and natural resilience of local stigmas (compared to the world); had collectively isolated the events from cold (external) critiques or support.. People loved the hot and exciting events of demonstrations, assassinations, retaliations, biographies and Utopias.. As how most Arabs were always attached to their personalized media, locally or abroad (apart from the Turkish drama); as how their epistemic realizations are intellectually challenged.. The unspoken Arabic priggism is a Preserver of identity, a Product of history, and a Protector against globalization.. Nevertheless, Utopia has to be global, as each “Self” needs the “Other” to knows itself..

Only Tunisians had safely sailed with their “Jasmine”; by their cross border debates, while all other Arabs are fractured, distracted and disarray.. Not only the price of self realization is high, but also the goals become uncertain.. It was not Facebook that ignited the protest, but the unemployment.. It was not the intellectuals who run the upraising, but the radical Islamists.. It was not the nicely written political manifests, but the eye catching banners.. It was not the returned fortune-expatriates, but who shared malnutrition, malfunction and malformation.. All other Political Parties fade by their lack of organization, resilience and devotion.. Despite how the Islamist had ruled Sudan since 1989, Arabic Intelligentsia is proven freakily unconscious, extremely ignorant and severely challenged..

This is not about how Islamists are good or bad, but about how the consensus is.. Certainly, political mechanism will eventually develop a winner, but on what cost..? The concurrent events tells how the public is childish comparable to the administrations.. This supports patriarchy and big-brotherhood advocacy rather than revolt against.. Violence, physical and verbal; interprets the self destruction rather than salvation.. Gradual surrender is commonly growing due to the natural contractions against Change.. Political Utopia is gradually replaced by Maslow’s roles.. As Arabs start to know the true Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Justice and Development Party, Arabic Spring successfully replaces the Turkish dramas..!!

This article by inspired by Moroccan constitutional changes, Algerian iron fest, Tunisian mature reconciliation, Libyan power struggle, Egyptian epistemic disarray, Sudanese octopus regime, Yemeni fractured elite, Saudi radical victories, Bahraini string-toys, Kuwaiti strong tides, Iraqi politics of greed, Syrian search of leadership, Lebanon trades for prosperity, Jordanian calculated moves, and Palestinian aging breath.. Hemdan's Green Coast carfuly watches and analyzes.. AfroArabs of Mauritania, Somalia and Djibouti are left for Africom for appropriate actions..!!

Some people, we love them; البعض نحبهم

Thanks Marwa & Khathleen for the inspiration

By Gebran Khalil Gebran

Some people, we love them;
but we don’t get near them
because, from far, they are more seductive,
from far, they are more noble
from far, they are more precious.
—————————————————-
Some people, we love them,
we do anything to be close to them,
we do everything to share every detail of our life with them,
it hurts to stay away from them,
it is impossible to imagine our life without them.
—————————————————-
Some people, we love them,
we wish to live a beautiful story with them,
we come up with circumstances just to bump into them,
we come up with excuses just to see them,
we live a fantasy with them.
—————————————————–
Some people, we love them,
but we keep it a secret to ourselves,
so we remain silent, even if it burns us,
we don’t declare our love, because the obstacles are numerous,
and the consequences are frightening,
and it is best for us that the door stays shut between us.
—————————————————-
Some people, we love them,
we fill the earth with their love and we speak about them to the world,
we constantly whisper their name,
we need their presence… like water…like air,
we suffocate when they are not around.
————————————————-
Some people, we love them,
because they are available,
and our need to be loved pulls us to them,
because time flies, we age, and it scares us to stay without a companion.
————————————————–
Some people, we love them,
because they deserve nothing but to be loved,
we learn from them,
we build with them,
we paint the color of life with them,
we do everything to keep them happy.
—————————————————
Some people, we love them,
but they don’t love us back,
so we break and fall,
we never forget them,
we love no one but them,
and we cry them over again, every time we fail to win their love.
—————————————————–
Some people, we love them,
we just wait until they see us,
until they love us in return,
until they love us as much as we love them.

Ethiopian Domestic Workers in Lebanon..

Abusing the domestic workers became a trend from Morocco to Indonesia..
I can't understand why..??
However; I can confirm our prehistoric hunting genes and modern psycho perpetration..!!!

I may salute Philippines and Indonesia for the strong stand to defend their citizens..
Yet ILO is playing (or maybe they truly are) dumb..!!

"The scenes of the Ethiopian domestic worker being beaten outside the Ethiopian consulate were considered as a crime by all those who saw them. The Lebanese state mobilized... its efforts, especially the cabinet and the Lebanese public opinion that strongly denounced what happened, calling for harsh sanctions against the perpetrator of such acts in the future.
Ali Mahfouz is the man seen in the video footage, abusing the Ethiopian worker; LBCI identified him through his plate number. Ali tried to justify his act by denying that he beat her; he stressed that the worker tried to commit suicide more than once and that he tried dealing with her humanely, but she refused to go to the airport for deportation.
Labor Minister Salim Jreissati told LBCI that the Ministry of Labor decided to take the necessary measures to punish the perpetrator who turned out to be an employee in the domestic workers’ office. Jreissati said that the ministry summoned the domestic workers’ office for an urgent meeting on Monday, adding that a formal complaint will be registered.
As for Chakib Kortbawi, he told LBCI that this act cannot be justified, adding that justice will be served and that the public prosecution launched an investigation in this case.
The Ethiopian Consulate’s employees told LBCI that they remember the incident, adding that it is not one of its kind. They called on the Lebanese authorities to interfere and protect Ethiopian nationals.
Caritas identified the Ethiopian worker, stressing that they were following up on her case since she was admitted in Deir el-Salib hospital two weeks ago.
This Ethiopian girl may be lucky that pictures of her were taken while being abused, but many other domestic workers are being beaten and abused behind closed doors.

Share your videos with friends, family, and the world:

An Ethiopian girl Kidnapped and Dragged into a car brutaly by a group of coward Lebanese men in in broad Daylight in the middle of the city and no one coming for help! The Lebanon I Dream of...

It is regretful, yet a global phenomenon, whereas federal governments and local authorities are short from leadership, governance, enforcement..
A crisis of applied politics and practical democracy; topped with technocrats without creditability, integrity, visionary or self pride..
Petty.

Many Lebanese are obsessed with European and French life style, adding to this the flammable oriental characteristics; which create dangerous cocktail.. This is how Lebanon had got a reputation between the extremes in any field.

Arabs, as the main customers and consumers of Lebanon leisure products, had spoiled the authentic Lebanese way of life, from the traditional Mediterranean countryside, into cosmopolitan urban nightclubs..

In Lebanon, the failed state is failing the people..

An infinite cycle..

Lebanese..

Among few, I believe that Lebanon is a land of civilization, which made the Lebanese People the most civilized among the Arabs.. It is not a matter of fashions or trends, but the deep-rooted practice of life that appreciates morals and qualities of excellence.. It is historically proven, yet concurrently proven on our daily life.. Simply, a nation of few millions that is always represented or been perceived as tens of millions..!!

Almost no Lebanese had Sudan as a land of Diaspora, while few Sudanese had made Lebanon their home or in-laws’ home.. Yes, some things had always raised between ethnic, cultural and social lines of divide, yet none was religious.. In Sudan, we almost denounce Islamic Sects; therefore our interaction with the Lebanese was always advance to what religion we believe in.. or what Sect we commit too..

Lebanese Woman had always proved to be the extraordinary among all Middle Eastern women.. She manages to maintain her all interests with almost equal balance.. She is a marvelous daughter, an adorable wife and a devoted mother.. She is an ultra professional colleague, an ever loving sister and an unmatched party partner.. When religious, loving or relaxing; she is very committed, when fighting; she is just another buddy man..!!

Despite how active and smart thee Lebanese are, number of Lebanese women who are doing their own business is relatively small.. I guess, it is a nation is built by resilient women, while men are doing political and commercial business..!!

Despite the ones who misuse opportunities, or excessively use them; Lebanese are mostly stable characters, despite whatsoever they do, because they grow up free from constraints, paranoia’s or complexities.. This is why they easily score wherever landed.. This is why they have all potentials, yet fought by all neighbors..!!

A late Uncle of mine was adoring them, yet could not have a Lebanese wife.. Maybe a typical skin issue..!!
Another had raised a wonderful mixed family on a neutral grounds in Egypt..
I personally have wonderful ones to be my friends and colleagues..
Amazingly; hardly to have anemies from them..!!

It is nice to have a nice appreciation about a nation..
Hopefully stay safe, content and intact..!!
